Neil Brickfield - Pinellas County Commissioner, District 1

I put up this website in order to criticize Neil Brickfield for not being careful enough with the tax dollars. However, after Brickfield's vote against the wasteful 2010 county budget, and other signs that he is beginning to realize the seriousness of the economic situation, I decided to withdraw my criticism for the time being.
I met with Neil Brickfield on September 17th, 2009. He was generous with his time, and although we disagree on many things, we agreed on one thing: we need job creation in our county. I made the case that the BCC must think ahead to the day when the sea of stimulus money is gone.
I have also been pleased to learn that Penny for Pinellas will become pay-as-you-go, as opposed to issuing bonds against future Penny for Pinellas revenue. During the good times, county expenses expanded much faster than inflation or population. The BCC is still not cutting all the fat, but at least Neil Brickfield was the lone vote against the budget.
